Mangaluru, Jan 13: The department of Psychology, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya organized a workshop titled ‘Healing- Uncovering the Unconscious’ for the students here on Friday, January 13 at School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya.
Vice-principal Dr P Jenis Mary expressed her happiness and appreciation towards the organizing of the workshop. Speaking about the prevailing psychological wounds that are difficult to understand, she emphasized that such a session would help to gain an introspective report of ourselves and pave the way to a better future.
The workshop was inaugurated by Naveen Prasad, a healer, psychotherapist, mandala artist, yoga and bio-energetics practitioner based in Coimbatore. In a unique manner, the workshop was inaugurated by the resource person removing the adhesive from the bandage and giving the model of a scarred heart, a wound care dressing. Through experiential exercises and activities, the participants of the workshop underwent the process of psychological differentiation and it empowered them to be aware of audio-visual and kinesthetic thoughts, behaviour, sensing, belief and emotional dimensions and how they interweave to build their identity. The three hour workshop was conducted with a purpose to help participants become integrated, happy, mature, responsible beings and also have clarity about the workings of human nature and the environment around them.
Diya Jacob (I BA) compered the inaugural programme. Prof Sandra S. Lobo, Head, department of Psychology welcomed the gathering.
Through Gestalt, NLP, TA, mandalas, symbols, meditative, contemplative, mindfulness, movement and art therapy tools, Naveen Prasad conducts a unique and a powerful self-development programme called ‘SWITCH’ every second Saturday and Sunday of every month in Mangaluru.
