Mangalore, Jul 26: The coastal regions, hinterlands and the southern parts of the state received torrential rains during the last 24 hours. Kollur in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district recorded the highest 13 cms of rain.
The spirits of the people of the twin districts, which were facing the risk of a doomed monsoon and parched fields, have been enlivened with the heavy downpour. Udupi received 11 cms of rain, Kundapur got 8 cms, Mangalore received 8 cms while the Sharavati Hydel Project catchment areas received three cms of rain. The metrological department has predicted copious rains in the next 24 hours too.
