Udupi, Jul 27: Tension prevailed at Udyavar Gram Panchayat (GP) office,when the villagers lay a siege on it for not supplying water regularly,on Saturday July 26.
The villagers shouted angry slogans and carried their protest till Saturday afternoon. They did not allow the president Rajani and vice-president Lawrence D'Sa to come out from their respective chambers for hours.
Kaup Circle Inspector Vinay Naik and Sub-Inspector Joy Antony, rushed to the spot and mediated a deal with the protesters and GP office bearers to increase the daily water supply from 10,000 liters to 21,000 liters.
Shivram Putran, Krishna Padukere, and Taluk Panchayat member Kiran Kumar led this protest.
