Sullia: Cops Seize Contraband Spirit Concealed in Cargo of Oranges

Sullia, Aug 5: Traffic police apprehended a huge haul of contraband spirit,near Sullia Pre-University College, on Tuesday August 5 .

Following a tip-off, the police intercepted a Tata tempo laden with oranges at 1.30 am on Tuesday. When they searched the cargo, they unearthed a huge haul of contraband spirit concealed below the stacks of oranges.

The tempo is supposed to have taken on the cargo of oranges from Madikeri, while the cans of spirit were loaded en route. Police took into custody Narayan (35), a native of Kasargod, and tempo driver Mohammed Kamaluddin (23), while their accomplices Riyaz, and Shaji, managed to escape under cover of darkness.

Sixty-seven cans with a total 2,345 lts of spirit worth about Rs 3 lac, has been seized. The raid was carried out under the direction of Abhishek Goel, assistant superintendent of police, Puttur, by Lingappa Bangera, circle inspector, Sullia, and other police personnel.

    I congratulate Sullia police for thier brave work captuing those illegal orange boxes containing spirit.Still a lot of illegal things are going on in Sullia,for which Sullia police should be very careful
