Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Mar 26: City police commissioner, T R Suresh, said that city (north) subdivision assistant police commissioner, Rajendra, has been asked to conduct detailed investigation into the incident which reportedly happened near Fatima Beach, Tannirbavi, on the evening of Saturday March 24.

Reportedly, some male and female students who were on a visit to the beach, were attacked by a gang on Saturday evening.

People living in Fatima Beach area, who met the police commissioner on Sunday relating to registration of three persons in connection with this incident, submitted a petition. The villagers said that the three young men who have been named in the first information report had given sane advice to some students after finding them to be behaving indecently, and not attacked them. Therefore, they sought review of the case filed against them. The police commissioner in response, said that the assistant commissioner will conduct detailed investigation into the incident.

The villagers said that during the weekend, large number of young men and women visit Tannirbavi beach, and some of them are found to be indulging in obscene activities. "This gives rise to a sense of awkwardness to the local people. To control this behaviour, CCTV cameras should be installed and a police outpost should be set up there, they demanded. The commissioner in response, said that MLA, J R Lobo, has promised to provide grant of ten lac rupees to install CCTV cameras to a distance of ten km from Casba Bengre in Tannirbavi to Ferry Road. He promised to beef up police patrolling in the area and ask the concerned to cut down bushes near the beach. He added that the question of creating police outpost in the area is now pending at the government level.

The delegation of villagers was led by city corporator, Raghuveer, Youth Club president, Naveen Suvarna, Prdeep Suvarna, Mahila Mandal president, Bharati Suvarna, Laxman Suvarna, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike women's unit president, Shreelata Salian, president of self help group, Vijaya, and others.

I feel it failure of police that is why there is moral police. If police is placed in public places like beach and and park moral police will stop.

Moral police will decline drastically when girls and women hit back these goons with chappals and clear videos go viral! When videos of chappali seve covers major moral polices....it will be sakappa saaku to them! And their supporting MP's too should be shamed!!

Maybe it is all about money- but-to be fair-Conflicts will occur-if sharply different strata of society - have and have nots, exists side by side : and parasites who take advantage will always do SO
The-moral structure will be different - mostly confused with females and sex : female attire , female affection and aggression is taken as a sign of immoral behaviour. Drinking or smoking by females is taken as immoral behaviour. No LIVE AND LET LIVE mentality like GOA.( they have villagers who are poor TOO)
All in all not an IDEAL beach to go to- Solution is Bring up the poor in that area both financial and social improvement. But that takes time- Next option is Total " buy-out" the place like is done in most beaches of the WORLD- must be fair-which is again a non starter in a society which is inherently parasitic and fragmented .
Till that time take care what u do on the beach. Each one on his own

don't blame the villages or insult them, they are not uncivilized. uncivilized are those who support uncivilized culture.

for some people when the same act was done at beach is civilized & same act at lodge is uncivilized & police will raid & book the case.

Just because someone is behaving indecently, can he be beaten up and assaulted. Who has given the right to these goons to take law into their own hands and resort to moral policing. The aggrieved only have the right to complain which they have done. And why a corporater who is elected to serve as civic support interfere in such cases which is unwarranted.

yesterday there was one more moral police incident at shimoga where the muslim girl going to college alongwith her classmate. but unfortunately, no much publicity for that incident. why there is a double standard for criminal case also? this kind of incidents are creating gap in the society. as per law crime is crime & these criminals punished without considering their religion or caste. so that peace may prevail in the society. otherwise for each crime there could be a support from one or other side.

what is that difference? act is same but place is different right. in beach it is open place & public is there but lodge it is a closed room. but still you justify the act in open place that also in front of public. tomorrow no one will go to lodge & everyone come to beach & enjoy. really I cant understand your logic.
