Panaji, Sep 3: Goa police have heightened security in the state ahead of the five-day Ganesh Chaturti festivities beginning from Wednesday September 3. The state has already requisitioned two companies of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which will be stationed at crucial points across Goa.
'Both the companies have arrived and will work in tandem with the state police, said Kishan Kumar, inspector general of police. He said that all security measures are in place to ensure incident-free festivities.

Goa, which sees a huge inflow of tourists during the five days, celebrates Ganesh Chaturti on a large scale. 'Sarjavanik Ganeshotsav mandals' spread across the state worship huge idols, and the number of devotees coming to these places is huge.

State police have insisted that such places have only a single entry point and only one exit point,  where metal detectors are installed. In addition to this, private security personnel will be engaged by the various sarvajanik mandals, to ensure more security. The police have also increased their presence along the highways and random checks of vehicles are being conducted.
