Panaji, Sep 9: All the fourteen Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators from the State will contribute their one month salary towards party's Bihar flood relief fund.

"The BJP has decided to launch a drive from September 14 to collect financial and material contribution for the flood relief fund for the rehabilitation of the flood victims," state BJP president Shripad Naik revealed to the reporters here.

Briefing press persons in the presence of leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar, Naik appealed citizens to contribute in whatever way possible to help Bihar people in facing the natural calamity.

"BJP appeals everyone to contribute with a humanitarian approach," Naik said.

The leader of opposition said he would contribute his entire month's earning for the fund and will also motivate other legislators to contribute all their allowances.

"Whatever we are doing is a small effort but we need to pull in all the resources to help the Bihar victims," Parrikar said.

The BJP leaders, using their personal rapport with various people, have asked the families to compromise on purchase of firecrackers for the ongoing Ganesh Chathurthi festival.

"Whatever money they will save by not buying the firecrackers can be donated to the fund as Bihar people desperately require helping hand," the former chief minister said.

The party has also said that those intending to have income tax benefit on their contributions can avail it, as the party would deposit their cheques in Bihar chief minister's relief fund.
