EC rejects Congress charges of fake voters in MP

New Delhi, June 9 (IANS): After a probe, the Election Commission (EC) has rejected Congress' charges of enrolment of fake voters on a large scale in Madhya Pradesh electoral rolls.

It had set up two inter disciplinary teams to verify Congress' allegations of 60 lakh fake names in the voter list.

In its letter to the Congress dated June 8, the commission said: "From the evidence collected from the ground and the analysis of data made available with the complaint suggest that the claim of large scale duplicate, repeat, multiple, illegal, invalid, false etc entries/voters in the electoral rolls of Madhya Pradesh is not based on robust parameter and is not correct."

The EC had sent the teams to four Assembly constituencies -- Narela, Hoshangabad, Bhojpur and Seoni-Malwa -- which were shortlisted randomly from the list mentioned in the complaint on June 3.

The EC has also instructed the Chief Electoral Officer of the state to carry out "intensive verification" of the complaint in all other constituencies in a time-bound manner.

As per the reports submitted by the inter disciplinary teams, 2,397 of 2,442 entries in Seoni-Malwa alleged by the Congress to be similar were found to be genuine and 45 entries were in the process of deletion.

In Narela constituency, of 22,252 entries cited in the Congress complaint, 17,684 were found to be unique.

In Hoshangabad, no case of multiple entry was found on verification of alleged 552 incorrect entries while the EC teams found 29 of 36 cases were genuine and the process of deletion was on for the rest seven.

The commission concluded that the "allegation of large scale entries of multiple voters in these four Assembly Constituencies in not borne out".

"In addition to the complaint of duplication in the voters' list, it was pointed out that there has been unexplained growth in the electors in the state of Madhya Pradesh as the EP (elector population) ratio which used to be 52.76 per cent in 2008 increased to 61.45 per cent in 2018.

"This has been seen from the perspective of census data and annual increase in the numbers of the electoral roll and nothing unusual could be noticed," reads the letter.

"From this, it can be safely concluded that there is no basis to dispute the current electoral roll."

The credibility of the Election Commission of India is at its lowest. It has just become trend for them to reject every allegation the opposition parties raises accept BJP.
    I would rather request all opposition parties should file case Supreme Court till ECI gives reply in written for the following;
    1. In a RTI reply ECI accepted discrepancy in number of EVM manufactured and supplied. Does ECI has full audit of the every serial number manufactured?
    2. Why open challenge is rejected from the scientific community by Election commision of India if Dutch can demonstrate them live hacking on television channel.
    3. How did USA imported 'microchip' owned by Indians who had connections Gujarat gas of Rs20,000 crores is full proof, when the company facing malpractice in US court?
    4. Democracy should be transparent. Why VVPAT should be counted in close doors? Who has given the orders of 5% counting out of total seats?
    5. In Karnataka elections 2,400 EVM malfunctioned. Why every elections so many machines gets broken when machines are quality checked?
    6. What happens to the votes which replaced for the malfunctioned EVMs?
    7. Who has given the orders to increase the capacity of the votes for each EVM?

Democracy is at risk. The opposition parties failed as united front to oppose the EVMs integrity. We Indians need 'ballot papers' if Election Commision is failed to answer the above questions.

After what we are repeatedly seeing the complaints about EVM's in every election and justified speculation of their tamperingand Disqualification of 20 AAP MLA's The Election Commission appears to be another caged Parrot.
The people have lost confidence in the election Commission.

They should have set an example like Seshan.

As expected. Anything related to 'Fake' 'Jumla' 'EVM' etc is impossible to prove in a court of law so long as the current ruling party remains in power.
