Mangalore, Oct 3: District police have arrested four terror suspects from Mukkacheri in Ullal, Subhasnagar  near Pandeshwar here in the early hours of Friday October 3. While the one arrested in Subrahmanya is yet to be identified, three others arrested from Mukkacheri and Pandeshwar have been identified.

The police took to custody two persons from a house at Mukkacheri in the small hours of Friday October 3.

Meanwhile, the police have also taken one Mohammad Ali and Javed in Mukkacheri to custody for providing shelter to the suspected terrorist. The police started operation at about 2.30 am on Friday with armed men and Rapid Action Force.

Heavy police security was deployed on the spot before they could start the operation. Meanwhile, police have continued their efforts to trace the terror suspects in and around the city.

Later, the police arrested Naushad and Naheed from a house at Subhashnagar near Pandeshwar here and confiscated Rs 11 lac in cash, 5 grenades.

One can note that it has widely been believed that explosives were supplied from the coastal Karnataka for the recent Delhi blasts. Mohammed Shaffique alias Shaffi (23), a suspect in the Delhi blasts is student of Sikkim Manipal University. He had arrived in coastal Karnataka and stayed in Manipal just a few days before the Delhi blasts. Following blasts, he was even brought to Manipal to avail more information.

If the arrested are culprits for real, then the law of the land should be followed. If they are just scapegoats, I pray to God to give them and thier families strength to pass thru this very difficult phase.

I appreciate some of the comments here by Muslim readers especially Mr. Tanveer who expressed “Can someone please establish a Group that believes in dialogue and peaceful negotiations than just take up arms and destroy innocent lives??” I am with you Tanveer.

Come on lets form a forum for this purpose. I am already speaking to my Muslim and Christian Friends. Since my child hood I have seen the cordial relationship between Hindu Traders and Muslim Traders in my town Bantwal. I have seen the brotherhood in times of need. I have seen how we used to trust them for a fair deal. I personally regard them as models in terms of entrepreneurship and hardworking.

I really can not imagine Mangalore’s social structure without Muslims. They are in every trade today. In some they are monopoly. Its true there is a divide. Blame game will further increase this divide. Let’s come out to face the hardliners in both worlds and work towards a platform to simmer the issues.

I am a practicing Muslim working as a Engineer in Kuwait and i am really disturbed by this news. The area where i live in Mangalore is equally populated by Muslims & Hindus. We just can not make out that we are from different religions as we all attend together all festivals & religiuos functions. I strongly hope that this news is not correct and all will be proved as innocents. Meanwhile we as a citizens should not get carried away with these news as our police force is always tend to arrest people on doubt and most of the cases the actual culprints are not caught. Hats off to our police force for nabbing the terrorists. Mangalore is fast growing in all respects including terrorism and communal riots. It is very sad that a handful of disgruntled Muslim youths have taken the law in their hands as a revenge for pushing them to the wall. More than holding these youths responsible for the terrorism, I hold those people or groups who are responsible for these youth to take these drastic steps against their motherland. Who can forget the Bombay-riots as well as the massacre of Muslims in Gujarat? No one can deny the fact that they are forced to take these heinious step against their brothers.

They are surely a misguided lot who are brainwashed by enemies of not only India, but also of humankind. Before these youths became terrorists, they or their community people were victims of brutalism. We Christians just can't tolerate when our churches are being destroyed, properties are vandalised and our nuns get raped. 45,000 Christian institutions all over India were closed for a day to show our anger. We have never heard Muslims calling for strike when they were masscared or their Masjids and properties were destroyed. How can they forget the destruction of Babri Masjid and killings of their brothers and sisters? They silently suffered but there is a limit for one's sufferings and I think they have now crossed their limit.

An hot-blooded youth irrespective of his religion cannot and will not forget the pain and humiliation inflicted on him. Today if we have SIMI & IM, then we also have Bajrangdal, VHP, Shiv Sena, etc. They all belong to same basket of rotten fruits. I don't think any religious person joins any of these hardcore groups. They are not protectors of their religion but destroyers of peace and humanity. I feel that if the Bajrangdal, VHP and their associate groups keep on killing the Christians, rape the nuns and destory their worshipping places, then mark my word, one day the Christian youths too will follow what now these disgruntled Muslim youths do. I hope and pray that we will not see those days.

Hitherto the tension was between Hindus & Muslims but now it is between some Hindus & Christians. Having said this, I strongly condemn anyone taking the law in their hands. If anyone proved to be guilty, they should be given examplery punishment, which should deter others in embrasing terrorism.

When muslim names comes, the media will display the topic in front page in headline or they will make it big news. why this? Dear readers you remember recently The Dakshina Kannada crime branch team lead by its Inspector Mr.venkatesh Prasanna raided a private commercial complex Radhika plaza on Saturday (21 Sep.2008) afternoon and found huge quantity of Gilletin sticks, detonators and other explosives stored there.

Mr.Suresh kamath ,owner of this building had no licence to store these weapons and was arrested by the police.A case has been booked against him under explosives act. The people of this region who were already frightened about the recent Delhi serial blasts and also the news that the explosives for the blast were supplied from Karnataka were further panicked by the news of the police finding a huge quantity of unauthorised explosives in Puttur.

But all the leading Kannada dailies which otherwise show great enthusiasm and interest in such news totally ignored this very important news. This news was carried only as a filler news in inner pages in all these Kannada dailies (21 sep.2008). Only Vartha bharati carried the news in front page with due prominence and also gave the police version of the dangers of storing such explosives in its back page (21 sep.2008).

Interestingly Udayavani carried this news with another news of an incident in which a Muslim businessman was caught with just 5 bullets in his bag who then showed his authorised licence to carry the same. So every time don't belive district police or state goverment.

I condemn all forms of violence. It is good news that police have arrested the "suspected" terrorists. I hope they are not terrorists. May God save us from all forms of terrorism. At this juncture, we need to be very careful not to get carried away by the over enthusiasm of the police! After all, our police are known to arrest anybody whom they want! We also need to be careful not to take the sensationalism of the media - media is fond of steriotyping people for its revenue. Many problems are created by the media - specially steriotyping and communal discord.

I appeal to my fellow readers not to brand any one community as bad or negative. Enough harm has been done by some outfits, political parties, and media to innocent people. As one rightly suggested, if the police really raid some of the hideouts, mutts and houses of bajrang dal, vhp, ramsene, rss, etc they will recover more arms and bombs than they do from these "suspected terrorists". Do the police have to guts to raid and find out the truth? By this, I don't mean that Hindus are that way not at all. It is some of their organisations which spread disgrace and shame to Hinduism and India!

We request the police to be fair and square and not blame innocent people.. Also the arrested should be given a chance to speak to the accused.. like in the UK .. a person is not a criminal until proven guilty.so let be it ... Let me tell you that as per recent statistics, between year 2000 and 2008, only 1 thousand people were died due to terror attack and more than 3 thousand people were killed in Gujarat alone due to communal clashes and God only knows how many people were died all over India due to communcal clash. I don't encourage terrorism on the face of this earth but to me communcal clash is more dangerous than terror attacks. The concerned organizations and people involved in triggering communal harmoney must be given the same treatment as was given to the terror "suspects".

I being a Muslim I oppose Terrorism and they must be punished. ISLAM never taught us to kill innocent people. its the terrorists killing them. But at the same time I totally oppose the current affairs of Indian govt. It never supports minorities. thats the real truth. I am a Muslim and always get quite disturbd hearing of our brothers taking up law in their own hands in such violent manners. I realise that a vast majority of Muslims (and minoriities in general) face disrimination in their own land. (Its true, let's face it!) But violent reactions is not the answer. Islam stands for Peace. (Has anyone wondered y colour Green has a significance with Islam?) These groups need to get back to the true teachings of Islam and find the solutions.

Let's behave like humans and please put an end to this embarrasment that Muslims face today due to a few mis-guided people. Can someone please establish a Group that believes in dialogue and peaceful negotiations than just take up arms and destroy innocent lives?? Also, I call upon the Media to stop putting the ISLAMIC angle to everything that a MUSLIM may have done!! Creating sensation this way has heavily misguided the masses.

May be the arrested persons are Muslims, that does not mean all Muslims are terrorists?  Please don’t mix religion with every damn thing. We need to sit down and think why would students require explosives and how in the world they were in possession of such huge amount of monies? Allow the concerned to carry on their duties and let law takes its own course.

The police force must have had a whiff about what’s happening and they have waited till the holy month of Ramadan is over. They have planned their actions very well in the early morning so they dint have any disturbance/ interference from locals. This shows the vital information they did hold from their counterparts in Delhi.

What would be the use if would make a huge cry tomorrow when the bombs would explode somewhere down in our town and we lose someone precious to us? Do we have to wait for a tragedy to occur each and every time for the force to act ? Would’nt we be the very same people to blame them for intelligence failure? The police force has done a commendable job for once, lets thank them for keeping themselves awake in the wee hours of morn and disposing off their duties to safeguard the fellow nationals.

I think there is no connection between church attacks and terrorist activities we were witnessing recently. Church attacks are only an excuse provided by these antinational elements. Naxals are also joining the chorus. Indian economic story in the recent past and its potential is not going down well with some internal and external forces. It is a shame that most of them caught till date are Muslims.

I am sure there is a solution round the corner for this problem. But guys get ready to shed some of your freedom. I am not claiming that we have a very competent police force, but it's utterly preposterous that some people fault the government when somebody is arrested regardless of whether a terror strikes or not. If the terror strikes we sit back and blame the government. If the Government arrests pre-emptively, we still blame the Government. Terrorists are never blamed regardless of the fact that they kill innocent men, women and children. I actually liked the spirit of the character projected by Naseeruddin Shah in the movie A Wednesday. And not the occupants of this rich Ullal house that has provided sanctuary to would-be terrorists.

The political parties like Congress, JD(S), NCP, SP, RJD, BSP, DMK, LJP & many more psuedosecualr parties which are the staunch supporters of these radical terrorists. Those parties should be banned by election commission which made our country just like a testing centre for Terrorist bombs throughout the country. Terrorism have been tested, executed quite comfortably in India since it has total central Congress led UPA government support in each and every aspect. It's high time for those like minded people leaving behind religion, caste to realise whom to elect to lead our country if at all we need at least safety from terrorist attacks. God save this country.

Once a peace loving and lovely town, Mangalore is suddenly getting famous the worldover, but for the wrong reasons!! It is shocking to read reports that the recent terrorist blasts in Dehli were supported by ammonium nitrate suppliers in the heart of Mangalore. Entire Karnataka is in the grip of various types of problems which would be very difficult to surpass unless accurate code of conduct is drawn and implemented with equal gusto!! God save Mangalore!!

The need of the hour is for the mangaloreans to be vigilante. Instead of wasting time in conversions, destroying holy places and protesting against it and going to Jail, people in Mangalore must keep their eyes & ears open and report any suspected activities to the authorities. Mangalore police are not that bad as being portrayed in past few days.

Wilma & Winston don't blame UPA at the centre & Congress for what is happening in Mangalore or Karnataka. Since more than 100 days BJP is in power & when there is a elected State Govt, it is responsible for whatever is happening in that State. From this its clear that both of you being Catholics are BJP supporters. Today BJP is in power its only due to people like you who is supporting Communal forces. I am sure you both had voted for BJP & within 100 days of their rule our Churches were attacked in a peace loving place like Mangalore. So whatever has happened in the History of Mangalore on 14th September, Catholics like both you are responsible.

The Congress and Leftists and their allies are responsible for the growth of terrorism. Just for popularity and votes they supported all nonsenses of the radicals who have no real complaint but a business to keep the misguided youths under their thumb.

At least you punish those parties & leaders who support terrorist organisations. Please save our state, Coastal districts from these inhuman activities.

Really Mangalore has become a major terror hub due to our greedy Congress politicians, they protected them very well in every circumstances. But this terror network has spread like cancer in coastal districts & it is uncontrollable now, hope everyone will be safe in Mangalore, it's really surprising to know that even highly educated muslims are involved in those type of activities, shame on them.
