Bantwal, Jul 30: Bantwal rural station police on Monday, July 30, arrested four men said to be involved in the assault of a man for accompanying a woman belonging to another community in Farangipete in the afternoon on July 29.
The arrested men are Farangipete residents Ummar Farook, Mohammed Arafa, Iqbal C and Mohammed Afiz. A group of local young men had assaulted Kundapur Kota resident Suresh objecting him speaking to a woman belonging to another community in his car.
The woman residing in Udupi was a resident of Farangipete earlier and knew Suresh. She had come to Farangipete for some medical treatment. She spoke and sat in the car of Suresh. The men objected to their speaking to each other and Suresh dropping her off in his car.
