Mangaluru, Aug 3: The city crime branch police arrested a notorious thief accused of involving in theft of two cows and a calf grazing at a goods shed under Mangaluru South police station limits.
The arrested has been identified as Ahmed Kabeer alias Bengre Kabeer, (30), a resident of Kabeer Manzil, Kasba Bengre.
It may be recalled, two cows and a calf among cows grazing near Mangaluru South police station and belonging to Mahalingeshwara temple, Pandeshwar, were stolen. A case was registered at Mangaluru south police station in this connection. Abdul Kabeer alias Pariwala Kabeer, a primary suspect of the theft was taken into custody by CCB police. A white Ritz car used by him for the theft was also seized.
The police who gathered information regarding other suspects involved in the theft arrested Ahmed and handed him over to Mangaluru South police station for further action.
There are 13 cases of cattle thefts pending against him in Udupi, Karkala rural police station, Bajpe, Ullal, Konaje and Vitla police station. There is also a case of robbery registered against him at Panambur police station.
He was a primary suspect of cattle theft in Kairangalapunyakoti under Konaje police station limits. He was absconding without appearing in court hearing. The court had issued a warrant against him in connection with cases registered against him at Konaje and Bajpe police stations.
CCB inspector Shantarama, PSI Shamsunder H M, H D Kabbalraj and staff took part in the operation.
