Mangaluru: Software glitch - no driving licences issued at RTO since two months

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 4: Because of delay in installing software, people from the district who have been approaching the regional transport office (RTO) here for driving licences since the last two months, have not been able to get them.

It is said that the concerned had encountered technical problems in implementing 'Sarathi - 4' software which enables people to apply online for obtaining learning and driving licences. As the issue has not yet been addressed, no one has been issued driving licences since the last two months. Not only new driving licence, even renewal of licence is not possible.

Since the last some years, 'Sarathi - 3' software was operational and candidates seeking regular driving licence and learning licence were expected to apply for them online and then present copies of the documents and sign them at the RTO office. Now, after the new software was installed, driving tests are conducted, but licences are not being issued. The regional transport office has been giving stock answer that the problem would be addressed soon.

It is said that licences as per the new software can be issued only after all the files in the previous software are disposed off. The officials say that this work would be attended to within ten days.

It is said that several bus drivers have not been able to work as bus owners insist on production of driving licences to hire them.

RTO is the only department that thrives on corruption, the old staff is not happy with the software as they used to extra pocket money.

The complete staff and contractor should be handed over some software giant like TATA is operating for the issuance of the passports.

Not only Mangalore but every RTO in the country is corrupt.
Approach a tout and your work is done.

Touts in Bombay have opened offices outside the RTO and is a thriving business.

Handover this department to software giants like Infosys, TCS, Wipro or any other private companies, they will see that the department will function smoothly within a week. All non skilled people are filled in the department with 90% of the staff doesn't know how to operate the computer. If this is the case then how a department can function smoothly in this technologically developed era?
Just take example of Passport Kiosk, it runs smoothly because at the front end TCS employees are working & they are skilled, competitive enough to handle any work pressure.

Nothing new! If they are out of printer cartridge, it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get the same! I guess RTO officers should have some power to get the glitches streamlined! Why co-ordinations in govt departments so pathetic and officers do not care at all about peoples inconvenience! For most common people they are used it! In most countries printing the registration card is like printing an ordinary paper. But in India the printed card takes around two months and lots of errors in printed card. are they short staffed??? we need upright and efficient ministers to address these issues. Even MLA / MLC's can look into solving the matters. Forget MP's...they are for name sake and to instigate problems!!

Total failure of RTO department in getting a updated software for its office... FEKU govt and its ministers are not interested to update .... This issue is pending since very long time before Election and then MLA/Ministers did not gave any importance to give service to public.... RTO is also not taking care of their office requirement like this important software without which there revenue could not be earned.... Finally people are sufferers.... If you have issue over commission, pl keep it aside and implement it immediately for people....
