Panaji, Oct 14: Goa education minister Atanasio Monserratte's elder son, Rohit, was booked for raping and sending lewd messages to a minor German girl while his father was charged for abetting the crime.

Police who delayed the investigations by almost 12 days could not find Rohit at his residences at Taleigao and Miramar in Panaji. The police teams had to serve notice to Rohit and return empty handed.

"He has been asked to immediately appear before the police for interrogation," superintendent of police Bosco George said. The superintendent of police said that the minister has assured to hand over his son to the police as soon as possible for the investigations.

"The complaint was lodged by mother stating that Rohit sexually assaulted her minor daughter, outraged her modesty and apparently raped her and sent text messages of obscene in nature through mobile phone," George told a press conference this evening.

George said that Atanasio Monserratte (minister) has also been charghed for allegedly abetting the crime by handing over his mobile phone for the purpose of sending text messages.

The sensational case involving minister's son was finally being investigated by the state police after initial reluctance. The German researcher had accused minister's son of mentally and sexually abusing her 14 year old daughter.

The Calangute police who received the complaint on October 2 had sat on the case till mother approached a local NGO – Utt Goenkara.

The mother was asked to remain present before the police on Saturday to give details of the case.
In the meantime, the entire episode got a violent overtone when NGO's spokesman Aires Rodrigues, who is also German mother's lawyer was brutally attacked last night in a city restaurant.

Rodrigues' two fingers were severed and he was operated last night.

Briefing presspersons from hospital bed, Rodrigues had accused Atanasio Monserratte of masterminding the attack on him.

The allegations, however, were refused by Monserratte. "There is a high profile political mastermind behind the entire plot," the minister claimed.

As the episode was getting murkier, the police bosses today met German lady and sought details from her. Later in the afternoon, Rohit was booked under different offences of grave nature.

This is disgusting. The culprit should be punished severely.Just because he is the son of a minister,is he supposed to be protected by the police. They are public servants and not supposed to be a ministers loyal slaves. These perverts should not be spared.we should have punishments here in India like they have in Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE.the culprits should be brought out in the open and lashed with a whip,so that they fear to repeat the crime again.

Shame on these men especially the parents of the boy who has not been able to teach him what is right or wrong. What you do unto others you too will get it back. You too may have daughters,grand-daughters etc, someday it can happen to someone from your family too.You will not always remain in a high position or not always be a healthy, wealthy person.

For this sin of yours you and your family will be punished by God and whoever supports you will meet with the same fate.Let him step down from his post if he cannot teach his children how to respect a woman.PEople please come out of your homes,do not be afraid to fight for justice. This boy has to be punished. They will try to tamper with the evidence,or threaten the victims but people of Goa please wakeup. It could happen to your daughter tomorrow.don't let these people scott free.Unite and fight them.
