Kasargod: Normal Life Paralyzed as District Observes Total Bundh

Kasargod, Oct 15: A day-long bundh paralyzed normal life in the entire district on Wednesday October 15. The bundh was observed in the district in protest of murder of a DYFI activist B Rafique here on Tuesday October 14 at about 6.30 pm.
KSRTC and service buses did not ply on the road in response to bundh call given by DYFI and CPI (M). Hundreds of DYFI activists rushed to the house of the deceased to pay final tribute to their co- activist. Rafique's body was also kept at CPI (M) district office at AKG Mandir here. About four thousand people participated in the funeral procession which was held later.
Malikdinar Juma Masjid Qathib led the Janaza namaz and the body was buried at Mogral Kotakunn Juma Masjid in the afternoon.
Rafique
Rafique was an active member of DYFI and was the former secretary of DYFI Periyadka unit. He was stabbed to death while returning from the Masjid after the maghrib namaz. The police have registered case against three persons- Udayan, Rajesh, Mani of Bedradka in this connection.
CPI (M) leader KP Sathishchandran, MLA DE Abdullah, Cherkal Abdullah and other leaders visited Rafique's house.
DYFI Stages Protest
Mangalore: The district committee of DYFI staged a protest condemning the killing of Rafique in front of district commissioner's office here on Wednesday October 15.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Kumar Bajal, state president, DYFI said that they would teach a 'lesson' to Sangh Parivar for killing a DYFI activist Muhammad Rafique on Tuesday October 14. He added that minorities have been attacked by the activists of fascist forces in the name of cattle trafficking and terrorism.
Condemning the BJP for engineering communal violence he said that they would never allow fascists to go with divide and rule policy.
Munir Katipalla, district president, Krishnappa Konchadi, Dayanand Shetty and others were present during the protest.
