Kuwait, Oct 15: In a neck-to-neck contest, Kuwait chapter of Gulf Voice of Mangalore semi-finals held in the Carmel School on Wednesday, Oct 15, Vinay Lewis (119 points) and Joylene Gonslaves (117 points) both native of Kallianpur jumps into the finals by beating 10 other contestants in the competition.
Total 12 contestants were in the race for finals. Youth recreation centre organizing the entire Gulf Voice of Mangalore event. Louis Rodrigues and Lawrence Pinto are the men behind this first ever Konkani reality show.
It was a tough contest as all twelve contestants rendered melodious Konkani songs. The final will be held on Oct 17, 2008 at the American International School from 4.30pm onwards.
The event started at sharp 6.30pm with introduction by Roshan D'Silva followed by welcome and vote of thanks by Organiser Louis Rodrigues. For the competition part master compere Leslie Rego took over the dais. With the introduction, Judges Wilfy Rebimbus, Melwyn Peris and Joel Pereira were escorted to the stage by Lawrence Pinto, Louis Rodrigues and Wilson Saldanha to handover the judgment

After the competition, mementoes were presented to all the semi finalists by Fr. Melwyn D'Cunha, Walter Nandalike of daijiworld.com, Ronald F D'Souza of Konkan Karaval Association Bahrain , Helen Pinto, and Anita Fernandes.
Fr Melwyn D’Cunha, while addressing the gathering congratulated the organizers for taking bold step in organizing such a massive event. He appreciated each and every contestants for their singing talent.
In the second session , audience were entertained with Konkani songs by Andrea D'Souza, Ansel Golsalves, , Sonal D'Souza, Lolita Fronteiro, , Ria Pereira and Ethan Fernandes. Dances were performed by Vanessa Pinto and Susan Saldanaha.
Jubilant winners both Vinay Lewis and Joylene were greeted by the audience and joined in the winning celebrations.
Roshan D'Silva compered the stage and entertainment program.
