Panaji, Oct 17:
State's Home Minister Ravi Naik has said that he has no personal vendetta against Atanasio Monserratte and case agaist his son is being handled by police as per the law.

"We will not spare if someone is culprit but at the same time we will ensure that injustice is not meted out to anyone in the state," Naik said.

He said that the law is same for everybody and individuals don't matter. "I have not targeted anybody. The police officers are well experienced and they are doing their job," Naik said.

Monserratte, who's son has been booked for raping a minor German girl, had claimed that Naik was unleashing personal vendetta against him. Briefing presspersons last night, Monserratte had said that he and his family was being targeted for no fault of theirs.

In February this year, Monserratte along with his wife Jeniffer were arrested for attack  on Panaji police station.  Later, his house was allegedly attacked by posse of policemen who had also picked up his younger son Amit.

Rohit, Monserratte's elder son has been missing since the time police complaint is registered against him. Monserratte's wife Jeniffer had contended that she herself is not aware about the son.

Naik today said that Monserratte is trying to divert the issue unnecessarily. "Police are doing their job. I have not instructed anyone. They are acting on the complaint," the home minister said.

He alleged that Monserratte was diverting the issue by raking up false allegations against him while police are doing their duty.

Naik said that the police should be allowed to do their duty without disturbing them.

Monserratte earlier had said that the Home Minister is targeting his family for the reasons not known. "Today it is my family.. tomorrow it can be of any other legislator," he had said.

The education Minister had claimed that the police were avenging his petition in the High court which had demanded CBI inquiry into the assault on him, his family and attack on his house by police.
