Udupi: Ambulance breaks down on road, public and police come to rescue

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Sep 5: Public and police helped in saving the life of a patient by pushing manually the 108 Arogya Kavacha ambulance, that broke down on the road suddenly in one of the junction places of the city on Tuesday, September 4.

At around 5.15 pm a seriously ill patient with a heart ailment was being transported through ‘108’ ambulance from Ajjarakad District Hospital to the Manipal Hospital. The engine of the vehicle stopped suddenly near Kalsanka junction. It did not start even after repeated attempts by the driver to start the engine.

The driver got helpless and confused. The relatives of the patient, who were sitting in the ambulance started to wail in a loud voice. Two traffic policemen who were on duty nearby started to push the ambulance manually. Locals who saw the policemen pushing the vehicle also joined in and helped to push the ambulance and subsequently the engine started.

Finally, the patient was admitted to the Manipal Hospital in time.

It is learnt that the same ambulance, which parks in Ajjarakad District Hospital, had a breakdown midway through its journey, a few weeks ago when it was transporting a patient from Udupi to Mangaluru.

This ambulance keep travelling with Siren from bramhavar to udupi by not carrying patients but with passenger or some goods. Can they use siren when they are not carrying an emergency patient. If they continue the same, people will lose trust of the ambulance and will not give the way.

Government needs to train these drivers.

Karnataka Government can afford luxury cars for JDS+Scamgress Ministers. They do not have any money for Ambulances... They have money to spend fro Other State ministers during HDK swearing in Ceremony. JDS+Scamgress has lot of money for providing Compensation to Cow Thieves, Rapists, Sand Smugglers etc..etc. NGOs, and Missionaries.

@Jossey S Mumbai, you are right, they use still bicycles even to carry dead bodies or self on shoulders, since ambulances are not available to poor.right? Here someone was very lazy and neglected his duty to get it in order officials should findout who it is and give him a warning. It is a question of life and death of some in emergency.why do they not get it checked from time to time?Do they not go to werkstatt regularly?Battery must have given his duty up.when it has happened once, then they should have looked upon the matter.Thank God patient had luck. But it will not be always. So be on alert.
