Mumbai, Oct 28: People thronged with lot of enthusiasm for the play,"Zana Soglo Ganv" staged at Mary Immaculate Grounds Borivli on the evening of sunday, october 26. The drama was produced by Henry D'Paula on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Konkani weekly, "KUTAM". Renowned script writer Joker Cascia has authored the drama, while talented artiste Sunny A D'Souza directed it. Every artiste did justice to his/her role with their top class performances. The drama was arranged by Canara Konkani Associaton, Borivli.
The main characters that make an appearance in the play, are of William Machado in the role of Simion Siker, Florine Mathias as Milla Siker, Edwin Banz as Ithu Lob, July Vaz as Inna Soaris, Flora D'Souza Kalmadi as Maggibai, Gregory Sequiera Niddody as Benna Monis and Felix D'Souza Malvani as Vally Dantis. Script for the drama and songs have been written by Joker Cascia. Music was provided by Victor Concesso and Benjamin Miranda. The play was directed by Sunny A D'Souza. Backstage arrangements were supervised by Harry Bantwal and William Kumar Kinnigoly.
Speaking on this occasion, Albert W D'Souza, who was the chief guest of the programme and the honorary president of Canara Konkani Association Borivli noted, that it is very difficult for a person to survive as a Konkani artiste with his talent and proficiency in the field alone. Konkani cultural activities are fading these days. But the enthusiasm showed by the people of Borivli is commendable. It has kindled new hope for the gifted artistes, he added. He also stressed the need to give prime importance to our mother tongue Konkani and speaking it in our homes.
Fr Nelson Saldanha, Sr Divya, Sr Hilda, Sr Michael, Gilbert D'Lima, Godfrey Quadras, Simon Lewis, George Nazareth, Maxim Mathias, Joker Cascia, Sunny A D'Souza, Arun Raj and Fr Valerian Barboza were honoured on this voccasion. President George D'Souza was also present at the dais.
Franky D'Souza beautifully compered the programme.
The first show of the day was held in the morning at the Zaveriben Popatlal Auditorium, Ghatkoper East.
