Panaji, Oct 29: Bharatiya Janata party and Shiv Sena have requested state Governor S Sidhu to dissolve the State government vis-à-vis deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
While Shiv Sena met Governor with their memorandum on Tuesday October 28, the BJP delegation is likely to meet Governor on Wednesday October 29 or tomorrow pressing for the demand.
"Governor can use his powers to dissolve the government as the law and order situation is turning grave in the state," Damodar Naik, BJP legislative wing, spokesman, stated.
He said that increasing desecration of idols, rampant corruption and increasing incidents of violence is an indication that nothing is well in the state.
The miscreants are on idol desecration spree in the state with the state police failing to nab the culprits. The State government has constituted a special team to probe the trend of desecration, which might spark off communal tension in the state.
The BJP has also pointed out to the disqualification petition filed by NCP minister Fransisco Pacheco against Congress minister Churchill Alemao and legislator Aleixo Lourenco Reginaldo.
"Ministers are filing disqualification petition against his own cabinet colleague. This has never happened in the history," Naik said.
BJP is a main opposition in the 40-member state legislative assembly.
Shiv Sena in their memorandum to the Governor has said that it is for the first time that several temples, statues and religious structures are destroyed by miscreants and police have failed to arrest the culprits.
"We briefed Governor about our demands. He was concerned about the law and order situation," Shiv Sena State chief Upendra Gaonkar told press persons after meeting the Govenor.
He said that Shiv Sena will follow up the issue and will take on the streets, if need arises against the government.
