Udupi: Spectacular Cultural Events Add Colour to DCCW Convention

Udupi, Oct 30: The day-long annual convention of Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) came to an end on Wednesday October 29 evening after spectacular cultural programmes.
Earlier after the stage programme, resource person Prof Leena Fernandes delivered talks on 'various aspects of women empowerment' till 12.45 pm.
The gathering was served with traditional prawn curry rice, patrode and sweets for lunch.
The talk on 'various aspects of women empowerment' followed after the lunch till 3.00 p m on Wednesday.
The cultural events such as dance, skits, yoga and others were held at 3.00 pm. Stree Sangatan units of Belman, Sullia, Pamboor, Udyavar, Barkoor, Moodubelle, Moodbidri, Kirem, Mudarangady, Shirva, Udupi, Thottam, Sastan and Katipalla exhibited their talents and entertained the audiece to the fullest. Winners were given prizes on the same occasion.
Mother Theresa unit of Udyavar parish and Moodubelle unit bagged the first and second prizes respectively for their overall performance. Letitia Pernal was the winner of lucky draw held on the occasion.
Around 1,300 DCCW members from all over the Mangalore diocese attended the DCCW convention and gained insight into women empowerment. The convention brought women of various parishes of diocese under one platform, in order to share and understand their various issues.
