Mangaluru, Sep 29: The police are yet get a breakthrough in the murder attempt case of Bajrang Dal leader Harish Shetty (38).

The police have suspected that a gang might have attempted murder in revenge to the case related to Gantalkatte assault case. The police have identified few suspects in this case.

The preliminary investigation reveals that the attackers had kept an eye on Shetty. On the day of the attack, the gang had waited his wife to go inside the house and attacked Shetty near the mosque.

Police sources suspect that along with Shetty's known people, few locals too might have been involved in this case.

Meanwhile, Harish Shetty is recovering at a private hospital in Mangaluru. Vajradehi Math Swamiji visited the hospital and enquired about his health. Swamiji has urged the police to immediately arrest the culprits.

On Monday September 24, at about 8 pm, Harish was moving near Ayesha Mosque when a gang of miscreants which came there in two motor bikes, began to swing their swords at him. As soon as he got alerted at the impending attack, Harish Shetty had bravely faced the attackers and succeeded in forcing them to beat a hasty retreat.

A sword held by one of the attackers had fallen to the ground in the melee. The attackers and Harish had jostled with each other for some time. During this period, Harish had suffered serious injuries to his hands and legs. The miscreants, who saw that a bus was approaching the spot, had sped towards Moodbidri, as per information.

The proceedings were recorded in the CCTVs installed in the mosque and a tyre shop located nearby. However, because of the poor quality of the CCTV, facial features are not properly seen.

The police believe that the gang which targeted Harish Shetty would have arrived there with the clear aim of killing him.
