Mangaluru: Catholic Sabha Angelore holds day-long Jana Samparka Sabhe

Mangaluru Oct 21: Catholic Sabha Angelore unit, Nagori held a day-long Jana Samparka Sabhe to address public grievances, here at Angelore Church Hall on Sunday, October 21.

Addressing the gathering, ACP South, Rama Rao, said, "We have introduced new beat system concept. Kankanady police station has wide jurisdiction and inspector will be the in-charge of that jurisdiction. We have divided this jurisdiction into 52 places. So every place has one beat officer who will be in-charge. Under that officer, there will be 50 local beat members,”

"The members will have close contact with the particular beat officer in sharing information and will arrange monthly meetings to address the public grievances of people living in the region. This will help keeping a tab on immoral activities and can help in maintaining peace and harmony of the region,” he added.

“Earlier there was only Kankanady rural police station and later on a new station was opened in Nagori in 2016. There was a staff shortage in the station but now this problem has been solved. I congratulate Allwyn D’Souza for taking up the initiative to organise this programme,” he said.

Kankanady town police inspector Ashok said," Jana Samparka Sabhe helps police to connect with the people. Police alone cannot do all the work. At the same time, police needs support from the people in maintaining peace and harmony in the region. Each person should know how to protect oneself and their valuables and take precautionary measures to avoid thefts,”

“People can help police in identifying the culprit by giving necessary information. People have the mindset that police may leak information about the informer to the accused. So with that fear, they do not come forward in sharing the information. We assure that confidentiality will be maintained about the informer,” he added.

A resident pointed out that seized vehicles opposite the station are obstructing the pedestrian movement and requested for its clearance. Traffic SI Kabbalraj replied, “The station at Nagori is in a private building. There will be opposition from the building owner if we park seized vehicle in the building premises. If we park outside then, then public will oppose. When a sand vehicle is seized then it is moved to mines and geology yard either at Mukka or Ganjimutt. We will release the vehicle after the intimidation bond. Some do not take their vehicles due to non-transfer of the document or if the owner is abroad,”

The Jana Samparka Sabhe provided platform for people to interact with police personnel.

    Thank you, Fr. Willie, for your kind initiatives in establishing a gathering at Angelore with a view to strengthen the "Jana Samparka Sabhe" and surface many ideas that can help the local parishoners to interact with the local Police authorities.

    Coordination and cooperation with the local Police officials is a marvelous idea indeed. There can be so many benefits to derive from the mutual consultation with each other so as to formulate new ideas and proposals whereby the people can work very closely hand-in-hand with the local Police authorities who are doing so much for the people and keep the Law and Order.

    Local communities are expanding rapidly, and there are many new generations are blossoming all over the City. The best way to conduct the daily pattern of life with smoothly and harmoniously is by associating with the local Police and try to conduct a peaceful collaboration for a consistent pattern of mutual affiliation. The words: "Jana Samparkha Sabha" will certainly bring a new awareness amongst people of all backgrounds so that there will be a cordial relations between the Police Department and the Community as a whole.


    You have the expertise to gather the people and the Security force. You also have the willingness to ensure that a "happy community" can build a successful community, howsoever small or big the community is.
