Alok Verma did not cooperate with CVC, failed to produce records: Govt

New Delhi, Oct 24 (PTI): The government Wednesday claimed that ousted CBI Director Alok Verma was not cooperating with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and defended its decision to send him on leave, saying that an "extra-ordinary and unprecedented" situation had arisen due to "grave allegations of corruption" against senior functionaries of the agency.

The environment of faction feud in the CBI has reached its peak, leading to a potential loss of its credibility and reputation of the premier investigating agency besides vitiating the work environment of the organization which has deep and visible impact on the overall governance.

In a long statement, the government said the CVC, on receipt of a complaint on August 24, 2018 containing various allegations against the senior functionaries of the CBI, has served three notices under Section 11 of the CVC Act, 2003 on September 11 on the CBI director to produce files and documents before the commission on September 14.

Various opportunities were given to produce such records and after several adjournments, the CBI assured the commission on September 24 of furnishing them within three weeks.

"Despite repeated assurances and reminders, the Director, CBI, failed to furnish the records/files before the commission. The CVC has observed that Director, CBI, has not been cooperating in making available records/files sought by the commission relating to serious allegations," the statement read.

The CVC has also observed that the CBI director has been non-cooperative, non-compliant with the requirements/directions and has created willful obstructions in the functioning of the commission which is a constitutional body.

That's what Verma told SC that Asthana was putting hurdles from performing his duties according to his oath and to keep up the dignity of the office. There is no congress mole here but a big BJP mole fattened by tax payers hard earned money.

What is this sent on leave for not cooperating with CVC or clean up his office files of fraudulent activities of govt???. Sending him on leave just like that doesn't make any sense except govt wants to get hold of his classified files and destroy them.

The fight within CBI just highlights one fact, Modi led BJP govt., has too many things to hide and want some one who works for it, out-rightly rejecting his commitments to national security and integrity. Every top grade babu has something he compromised on to be in that job and every politicians want favor from them. It works either way. The minute each other are pitted against each other, skeletons fall off the shelf.

The way Modi led BJP running around signing contracts at the fag end of its tenure shows, it is desperate to make as much money as possible. It can provide both safety if lost power OR it can also be used to win elections.

What is absolutely remarkable however, is his grip over his supporters. They don't look beyond what he speaks. Though his every action is detrimental to nations socio-economic growth, yet, the rationale is "just wait and watch, he is doing, you don't know", irrespective of validated facts.

Is he available leagally to make any statement as he has been sent packed on leave(Temporary Suspension) just like Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Chowksi, Vijay Mallya were sent out of reach of any judiciary / investigation/media body in India.

    1. the veil from Modi's face is lifted. now not from political quarters but by the cbi itself.
    2. two officers who were indicted by Verma the CBI director are both the darlings of Modi and both are believed to be corrupt.
    3. Verma considered to be a prudent man who wanted to dig the Rafale deal papers has been removed/sent on leave.
    4. Verma had to knock the doors of SC. is this the only place left to get justice.
    5. the executive under Modi has failed completely.
Is there any answer that the modi government has ?
