Mangalore: Scholars Call for People's Revival at 'Caravan Peace' Rally

Mangalore, Nov 23: The president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Syed Jalaluddin Umari said on Sunday November 23 that the struggle against injustice will continue until peace and prosperity in the country is restored.
Addressing a massive gathering at a programme of 'Caravan for Peace and Justice' organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Karnataka and Goa unit at Town Hall, he said silence against injustice is responsible for the growing social evils such as terrorism, communalism, regional chauvinism, atrocities on women in society. It is the bounded duty of every citizen to voice against injustice and to establish a peaceful atmosphere in the world, he said.
Expressing concern over the growing violence and injustice in the country, Umari pointed out that caravan for peace and justice is just a beginning and will continue until we see a complete eradication of social evils. "Nobody has the right to question another person’s religion or language and it is an offence. Minorities and other backward classes in this country have been deprived of their constitutional rights. Jamaat will lead a revolution to establish justice for the downtrodden and voiceless in the country'. he said.
He urged the people to co-operate with each other in their problems. He said that every citizen is equal in front of the Indian Constitution. ' Bury the hatchet and Spread the message of peace ’ he added.
Dr Chandrashekara Shivayogi Rajendra Swamiji from Hosmutt, Hubli in his inaugural speech said that people had been ruled by their own ignorance, poverty and unemployment. 'People should realize the existence of god. The first and foremost duty of man is to learn to live like a human being. We have to use our consciousness against evil deeds', he said.
Emphasizing that terrorism has no religion, Swamiji opined that philosophers should rule the country to ensure justice for each and every human being in the world. He also praised Jamaat for conducting the programme. Dr PL Dhrama, chairman, department of political science, Mangalore University said that truth is absent in the present world. India has good institutions, natural resources. Creating good citizens is one of the objectives of the Indian constitution, he said.
Abdullah Javed, state president Jamaat said India is a pluralistic society and it has a composite culture. People should know to live in a plural society. 'Religious tolerance is an important factor to ensure peace and prosperity in society. Every citizen has the responsibility to eradicate social evils", he opined. He informed that about 85,000 people have participated in caravan conferences held in different parts of the state.
Caravan was flagged off at Belgaum on November 10. Simultaneously two other caravans started from Bidar and Bijapur and they converged at Bangalore on Saturday November 22.
Justice MF Saldanha, Y Muhammad Kunhi, president, Wakf Board, SIO national president Bishruddin Sharki, Muhammad Kunhi, convener, Youth Wing, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Social activist and delegate of national caravan Suresh Kairnar New Delhi, Abdussalam Uppinangady also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Caravan was warmly received by a vehicle rally from BC Road to the City Town Hall.
