Same calibre of Lalu....whole life talking about religion and caste and trying to get party ticket's for son and grandson...when tickets were denied making sound Gurr Gurr of joining JDS....

What I am surprised an educated politician like Margaret Alva talking highly about this guy in her autobiography...perhaps birds of same feather seeking tickets for kin...

Anyway for whatever good he has done for Karnataka RIP...

    ...Tak...Takk...

To start with, RIP Jaffer Sharief.
He was Railawy Minister from 1991 to 1995 when Konkan Railway was under construction and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was executing a number of critical jobs for the project. On was a long tunnel at Honnaver. This envisaged boring work from both ends of the hill and also boring from the apex of the hill by digging a large diameter well and lowering the boring machines through it and boring in two directions to meet the tunnels being bored from the two base ends of the hill.
When the well at the apex of the hill was being dug, massive mud caved in and ten contract workers were buried under it and died. As the senior communication professional of L&T, in the Corporate Office in Bombay, I rushed overnight from Mumbai via Goa and Karwar and was able to feed the local media with the company’s version, including an offer of compensation suo motu which normally is not done to workers of sub-contractors.
I thought that the matter was over there. Then I heard that Jaffer Sharief was visiting the accident site the next day. He started off from Bangalore by helicopter with journalists in tow – apparently to garner some publicity. As bad luck would have it, his helicopter crashed into a wet paddy-field and his venture misfired. Fortunately, there were no casualties and the group retreated to Bangalore by road.

Yes, he was ex CM Nijalingappa's chauffeur, prior to that he was a Jutkawalla in the cantonment area of Bangalore. Being a driver he was privy to important political "settings" and snitched about Nijalingappa to Indira Ghandi, he was rewarded but the Congress split, that was history.. Jaffeer Sheriff was Railway Minister, but as a Politician didn't make any impact, he had a solid vote bank from the majority of the poorer Muslims in his constituency. He was in the news in the recent past as he wanted to jump ship, either because his son wasn't given a ticket or some.oter disgruntlement. May his soul RIP along along with that of Ambaressh.

As per various old-timers, Sharief was Karnataka CM and Lingayat strongman S Nijalingappa's driver.

He apparently overheard all that was going on, and passed the information to Indira Gandhi.

Congress split, and Nijalingappa was no more part of Indira Congress.

Sharief rose fast, and ended up becoming a union minister.
