Bengaluru: Students writing SSLC examinations will not be allowed to wear wrist watches

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (EP)

Bengaluru, Nov 28: Students appearing for SSLC examinations in March-April 2019 will not be allowed to wear wrist watches.

As modern smart watches with recording facilities are found these days, Karnataka State Board of Secondary Education has banned wrist watches in the examination halls to prevent malpractices.

The board has meanwhile decided to hang wall clocks in all the rooms for the facility of students. “A circular will be sent to all the concerned after the examination time table is finalized,” said KSEEB director V Sumangala.

KSEEB had taken up several measures such as CCTV cameras in all examination centres, identity cards to all the subordinate staff in the examination halls, ban on mobile phones and others during last year’s examinations.

That being the case and if the authorities are confident enough to keep a control of such an activity, permit students to wear watches NOT having hi-fi features. I'm sure the authorities will not be having an issue and can certainly identify hi-fi watches from normal ones. Let's hope that even this meagre facility does not require the intervention of the highest authority in the country to decide. At least some logic should have been used before jumping to such a whimsical decision. Just goes to show how much maturity exists in the minds of the decision makers.

This is utter foolishness. How can a student plan time his answering method without a watch?
Just because the control on sophisticated wrist watches is difficult, you cannot pass on your problem of controlling such hi-fi watches to honest students. If you allow such things, soon the stupid authorities will ban wearing clothes also saying that clothes can conceal recording devices or similar stupid logic.

Looks like court has to intervene in every sill matter to put and end to these type of decisions.

They have to fix a big wall clock in each exam hall. Students can plan and manage their time with this wall clock.
