New Delhi, Dec 10 (IT): Having served in your Council of Ministers for the last 55 months, I stand dejected and betrayed by your leadership, says a heartbroken Upendra Kushwaha in his resignation letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief, who resigned earlier today from the Union Cabinet, seems to have written his heart -- a rather broken one -- out on a paper as he used phrases like 'fundamental conflict' and 'jumla', apart from dejected and betrayed, to explain the reasons behind his resignation as a Union minister.
"The fact of the matter is that under your leadership, grave and unprecedented injustice have been committed upon Bihar, I say this with a sense of deep regret and sorrow," Kushwaha's resignation letter, whose contents have now been made public, says.
The letter adds: "The promise of providing Bihar with a special package has been the biggest jumla [moniker]."
"It is not just your attitude towards Bihar which has pained me a lot but your opaque style of functioning and non-democratic leadership style have left me disappointed and dismayed," the letter says, adding, "the Union cabinet has been reduced to a mere rubber stamp."
"It is unfortunate that the priority of the government is not to work for the poor and the oppressed, but to fix political opponents by hook or by crook," the letter goes on to say.
In his letter, Kushwaha also appropriated the rally in which he was called 'neech' [a low caste] by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in the presence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Modi. Kushwaha said Kumar was supported by the state BJP unit and he wasn't happy with that.
Kushwaha also, in reference to the recent row over the internal CBI war, said the investigating agencies were being "remote controlled" by the BJP and party chief Amit Shah with the sole purpose of harassing leaders with contrarian views.
Upendra Kushwaha had been targetting the BJP after it refused to give the RSLP more than two seats to contest the Lok Sabha 2019 election.
The decision to rest the endless speculation of him walking out of the Modi cabinet came hours after Kushwaha said he would not attend the allies meeting.
