Mangalore, Dec 8: Yuva Sobhann, a musical evening by the youth, for the youth, was staged in front of the packed audience by Adolph Jayatilak, Roshan D'Souza and Lloyd Rego of 'Ye Mana' fame during the 84th 'Moinalli Maanch' (monthly theatre) of Mandd Sobhann at Noreen and Ronald Mendonca stage here at 6.30 pm on Sunday December 7.
Adolph Jayatilak, Robin Sequeira, Johnson Crasta, Prakash D Souza, Ammabel Moras, Babita Pinto and Jean Braggs lent their voice to some of the melodious compositions of Lloyd Rego (Elyer Taccode) and Irene D'Souza. Talented musician Roshan D'Souza Angelore scored background music for the entire show.
The pop style Konkani songs Gaige Kogule, Thum Ye, Dingri Dinga, Thujea Dolleantlean,Yore Yore and Kennam Kennam received a thunderous applause from the audience.
Candle light vigil was observed to pay tributes to martyrs of Mumbai attacks during one of the intervals of the show.
Naach Sobhann dance troupe mesmerized the viewers with traditional Konkan dance. Comedy troupe comprising of Nellu Permannur, Dimple Pinto, Felix and Abraham were at their best throughout the show.
Marian D'Souza Pernal who arrived from Kuwait released Cinderella, the third CD of Konkani popular singer V V Santos while Konkani Kuttam Bahrain president Richard Moras released the much-awaited Konkani album 'He Jeen' which is a dream project of young musician Kevin Misquith Suratkal of 'Rupnnem'
Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario, secretary Arunraj Rodrigues, Konkani Prachar Sanchalan president Roy Castelino were present at the dais.
Well-known composer of Konkani hymns and music Apolinaris D'Souza specially arrived from Sultanate of Oman, released handbill of Konkan Jagran Week brought out by Konkani Prachar Sanchalan. The organizers urged all Konkani brethrens to attend the programme scheduled to be held at Don Bosco Hall, on Sunday December 14 morning in large numbers, in order to express their support to take Konkani to newer heights.
There was a surprise package awaiting the Konkani music world at the end of the show. Marian D'Souza Pernal announced a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each to the Best Male Singer, Best Female Singer, Best CD of the Year and the Best Music Director of the Year, for the year 2009.
