Mangalore, Dec 17: Two persons including the bank manager of the Mallikatte branch of HDFC Bank were injured after a group of miscreants attacked the establishment on Wednesday December 17.

The incident occurred at about 6.30 pm and the injured have been identified as Sai, manager of the bank, and Sumanth, security guard. Sources informed that seven people who arrived in a four-wheeler, indiscriminately vandalized the branch.

Two computers, showcases, and other things have been damaged in the attack.

Police suspect that the attack is in retaliation for the bank officers’ seizing a car on Tuesday December 17, for non-repayment of a loan. A case has been registered at Kadri police station.

More details awaited

Why should the bank not make arrangements to collect money due to it.. when these people have taken a loan they should make sure to pay it back. If they are decent then they would have lodged a case if the Bank had treated them bad. They had no intentions of paying the money back is clear from the step they have taken... i hope they are caught soon... Mangalore should not stoop down so low... we do not need these rowdy people in our city...

there is no doubt!!! the manager would be misbehaved with the customer may be for the loan outstanding or some other reason, simply no one will be hurt anyone or anything, if any outstanding loan for the vehicle or house why the bank or finance companies exploit the goondas (Seizers) of sending the govt approved securities or police, why the system cannot be changed ??? seizers means what? they are goondas!!!! Is it true!!!! they don’t have any education, manner, also they don’t have anyone at their front & back, they bought & born in footpath, Especially in our Mangalore any of govt dept or any of banking companies there is no respect for the medium class people, if it happen like in future also there is no end for these kind of disaster, it will give the growth for future generation, as all of you know that goondas & terrorists are all youngsters only up to 22-23, in this age they never think before anything happen, they only do the things, there will be some other people to sort out.

I am a NRI account holder in this branch and I have seen the staff treating very well with the customers irrelevant of the customers status. I think there is abosuletely no mistake from the bank's side. The culprits should be caught immediately and punished severely so that others do not follow in the same manner.

Sad to see this happen in Mangalore. A place which was so calm and quite has now turned into a battlefield. Law and order has gone to dogs. The Pvt. Banks hire only anti social elements as collection agents and they are allowed to do this. This tit for tat will only lead this mangala ooru to be naraka ooru. :(

It is very sad that a quit town like Mangalore has turned into a place where people have to live with fear. Public seem to have taken law into their hands and the law enforcing authorities seem to act as silent spectators.

Well it appears that goondas and anti social elements are having a nice whale of a time in and around Mangalore for quite some time now. Makes me wonder whether I am in my good old civilized Mangalore or whether I am somewhere in Bihar? My congratulations to the district administration, and to the Government of Karnataka on their excellent law and order management.
