Bantwal: Children, Women Flock in Thousands at Kepu ‘Kajambu Jatre’

Bantwal, Dec 18: The historical ‘Kajambu Jatre’ of Kepu Sri Ullalti Temple located near Vittal here was held recently.

The temple has a history of 800 years and it is known for immortal power of Goddess Ullalti. Basically the women who do not have an offspring offer prayer here pleading the Goddess to grant them with the gift of child. Devotees seek the blessings of Goddess Ullalti even when their children take ill. Therefore, one can see thousands of children during the annual feast here.

The kids take symbolic bath in a lake here in the midnight during the festal days. The rice worth one KG, a coconut and Rs 9 are offered here by every devotee for fulfilling the wishes. The women are allowed to enter the temple only during the ‘Kajambu Jatre’. They are not supposed to enter the temple rest of the days.
