Mangaluru: Muslim Central Committee to hold golden jubilee celebration on Dec 29

Mangaluru, Dec 27: The Muslim Central Committee, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, which began to maintain communal harmony in the region in 1969, as an ordinary organization in the city, has emerged as one of the major peace-spreading organisation and is all set to hold its golden jubilee celebrations on December 29.

Giving details of the jubilee celebration, K S Mohammad Masood, former MLC and president of the organization, said, "The organization started in 1968 by Adv M C Ahmed. The intention of the organization was to take immediate measures to maintain peace at the time of eruption of communal violence. For the past fifty years it has effectively stood in the society to maintain communal harmony and peace. It paved a way for inter-religious dialogues and gatherings. It succeeded to keep a close relationship with religious leaders representing different religions. Now this organization is completing its fiftieth year of existence.



"The golden celebration event will be held at Town Hall in the city. Haji Thwaka Ahamed Musliyar, Khazi, Dakshina Kannada, will inaugurate the golden jubilee celebrations. Ibrahim Musliyar, Bekal, Khazi, Udupi will lead the prayer ceremony. A B Ibrahim, administrator, Karnataka Wakf Board, Abdul Azeez Darimi and N K Mohammad Shafi will talk on sessions. K S Mohammad Masood, will preside over the programme.

"Siddaramaiah, former chief minister of Karnataka will attend as the chief guest for the valedictory function. Various political leaders from the twin districts will participate in this event.

"Wakf presidents and representatives of mosques of both the districts will take part in celebration," Masood said.

Kodijjal Ibrahim, Ahammad bawa, B M Aslam and other office bearers were present.
