Mangaluru: Omzoorche Dive's ‘Nathalancho Dabazo’ gets rousing response

Mangaluru, Dec 28: Christmas joy doubled on the occasion of ‘Nathalancho Dabazo’ organised by Omzoorche Dive, an association of Omzoor parishioners residing in the UAE, at Omzoor Church grounds, Omzoor, Meramajalu on December 25. The celebrations included a live in concert by Band Charitra.

The programme ‘Nathalancho Dabazo’ was based on the concept of ‘Bandutwa’ to give the real meaning to Christmas, initiated by Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha for harmony in the society and in the region, holding a get-together of leaders of Omzoor on the stage.

Vajranabha Shetty, dharmadarshi of Arkula Beedu, representative of Hindu community, Mohmmed Abubakar Baddoor, popular and well known theatre artiste and also a writer, representative of Muslim community, and Patrick Pinto, vice-president of Omzoor church parish council, representative of Konkani community were present. 



Acknowledging the concept of ‘Bandutwa’, all three leaders of different communities appreciated the initiative taken to strengthen the relation between all religions. They opined that all have to love and respect every religion and also that children has to be educated properly to understand the importance of harmony and change required in the society.

‘Nathalancho Dabazo’ was presided over by Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, the parish priest of Holy Family Church, Omzoor.

Daijiworld founder and director Walter Nandalike, NRI entrepreneurs James Mendonca, Joseph Mathias, Benedict Pinto, Broadway event management proprietor Joel Crasta, Mangalore Konkan former president Santhosh Nazareth, Fr Jerald Lobo from Monte Mariano Friary Farangipet, Sr Cynthia Saldhna from St Charles Borromeo Convent, Omzoor, Patrick Pinto, vice-president of Omzoor parish pastoral council, and Josna D’Souza, president of ICYM, Omzoor graced the occasion as guests of honour.

NRI entrepreneur Benedict Pinto from Abu Dhabi was felicitated for his special contribution to society by Omzoorche Dive during the programme.

Acknowledging the honour, Benedict Pinto thanked the entire parishioners and Omzoorche Dive for the honour.

Joseph Mathias appreciated the work done by Omzoorche Dive to the poor and explained how he derived happiness by sharing his wealth with others. He called upon the people to be good to one another and walk on the path of Jesus.

Walter Nandalike appreciated the ‘Bandutwa’ concept initiated by Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldhana and also Omzoorche Dive for their efforts in bringing the big difference to the society without expecting anything in return. He asked others to emulate Omzoorche Dive.

Fr Alwyn Dcunha thanked all the members of Omzoorche Dive who silently made a very big difference to the people of parish.

Crib competition-2018 prizes were given during the programme which is organised by Omzoorche Dive behalf of ‘Nathalancho Dabazo’.

Compere Roshan D’Silva from Dubai compered the celebrations as well as the musical concert.

After the stage function, Band Charitra team entertained the gathering with their special desi rock songs, along with special mash-ups.


The team of Band Charitra who entertained all throughout the concert included musicians Loy Valentine, Patson Pereira, Ian Sachin, Rikith Soans and Wilton Fernandes with lead vocalists Melwin D’Souza, Akshada Talaulikar, Sabitha Mathias and Joseph Mathias and backing vocalists Elton Pinto, Ashna D’Souza and Shainy Pereira. 

The dazzling dances for some of the catchy songs were performed by Focal Zone Dance Company and comedy skits enacted by ‘The Expression’ team.

Sabitha Mathias, Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) 6 winner, Arthur D’Souza, founder member and first president of Omzoorche Dive, and Lucy Pereira, founder member of Omzoorche Dive were felicitated at the end of the show.

The sound system was provided for the entire programme by Chris Electronics.

At the end, the crowd enjoyed Bollywood and baila dance. A huge crowd witnessed the celebrations.
