Mangaluru Dec 29: Congress spokesperson A C Vinayaraj questioned the contributions of BJP MPs to the Dakshina Kannada district in the past 27 years.
Addressing media here on Saturday, December 29, A C Vinayaraj said, "In the past 27 years, several MPs from BJP were elected from the district of Dakshina Kannada. So far the contribution of MPs like Dhananjay Kumar, Sadananda Gowda and Nalin Kumar Kateel to the district is zero. There have been no new industries which create jobs and there are no schemes introduced for the development of Mangaluru."
"For the past nine years, Nalin Kumar Kateel has been the MP of the DK district. He has failed to bring any additional funds for the projects except the annual MP grant of Rs five crore. Nalin Kumar Kateel is saying through media that he was able to bring in Rs 14,000 crore for the development of the district, but there is no proof for the same," added Vinayaraj.
Vinayaraj further said, "Model village project was introduced in the year 2014 and the MP has selected Balpa village of Sullia to be model village. As per the guidelines, basic amenities such as roads, water and electricity connection should be provided to the model village. But so far, nothing is done. In the last four years he was able to release only Rs 90 lacs. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is taking the credit of development works which was done by state government and CSR funds from private companies,"
“The four lane road construction from Gundya to BC Road was implemented when UPA government was in power in the Centre. But now it is sidelined, which means that the MP has utterly failed in his responsibilities. Even the Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers are constructed at a very slow pace since the last seven years, which shows the inefficiency of our MP. The project of Kulai jetty construction was undertaken with the shares of state government as well as central government. The construction work from the state government share is completed but the work is stopped due to non-release of funds from the central government," accused A C Vinayaraj.
"Nalin Kumar Kateel is silent over the privatization of Mangaluru international airport. We demand MP Nalin to reveal his contributions to the district through a press conference. Nalin,being in a responsible position, should take over the development works of district instead of submitting memorandum and posing for photographs,"
Vinayaraj criticizes Team Modi
A C Vinayaraj lambasted Team Modi which replaced Namo Brigade and said, "As election is inching closer, Namo Brigade is replaced by Team Modi and yet again they are trying to take advantage of people’s sentiments in making the BJP victorious. Earlier, when Chakravarti Sulibele was in Namo Brigade, he had said that Modi will develop Dakshina Kannada in the lines of Gujarat and urged the people to vote for Modi,"
"Chakravarti Sulibele is a person on hire and can fit in any role he wants and speak accordingly. We demand Chakravarti Sulibele and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to reveal what Modi has done to the district of Dakshina Kannada. Through Team Modi they are yet again trying to take advantage of the sentiments of the people," said Vinayaraj.
District youth Congress president Mithun Rai, Nazeer Bajal and others were present in the press conference.
