Mangalore, Dec 21: 'Jesus  Christ is not just for Christianity but for the entire humanity, and whoever believes in humanity should believe in Jesus too'  Doordarshan Kendra Senior Director Dr Mahesh Joshi said addressing Christa Namana, a unique programme organised by Bangalore Dooradarshan and Sandesha Foundation at Milagres Jubilee Hall here on Saturday.

A cultural extravaganza marked Christa Namana which was live telecast on DD-Karnataka and DD-Chandana.

Archbishop of Bangalore Rev Dr Bernard Moras said " When the whole world is under the shadow of terror, trauma and financial crisis, the message of Christmas proves most relevant and essential,  he said only the principles propagated by Jesus Christ could bring new hopes to people at a time when the entire world reeled under a strange turmoil."

“The stories of those who survived the recent terror attacks and trauma show that the values of faith, family and friendship are still alive. Celebration of Christmas in such a situation appears an ideal response,” he remarked.

“Tyranny, oppression and gross injustice to the people were rampant when Lord sent his messenger to the earth hundreds of centuries back. Unfortunately, similar fear and uncertainty are prevailing all around us even today,” Dr Moras regretted. Stating that mysterious are the ways of the Lord, the Archbishop said it was something unique that the programme was being held at a place, right opposite to which the Adoration Monastery was desecrated and the devotees were beaten up by miscreant on September 14  and 15.

Bishop of Mangalore Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, CSI Mangalore Bishop Emeritus Rev Dr C L Furtado (Retd), Prof B M Hegde of the World Academy and Authentic Healing Science, Alva’s Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva and writer Sara Aboobakar, Sandesha Foundation Director Rev Dr Valerian Mendonca were present.

Sandesha artistes presented ‘Christodaya’ a dance ballet while students of Fr Muller Institutions staged another ballet ‘Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya’.  The variety also included Kannada Carol by Milagres Church Choir and Konkani Carol by Bajpe Church Choir.

Dear friends, At last for a change, the organizers moved away from Konkani and presented the message of peace to be heard, understood and experienced by non-konkanis/non-Christians too. We done, organizers.

Excellento ! What a delight and what a fine imagination to mix the past and the modern into one. Well done to the organisers of 'CHRISTA NAMANA' which must have been a fabulous show for the audience. The fusion of dancers clearly showed the creativity of those involved and must have come as a welcome innovation. Just the fusion in music where the Indian instruments are played alongside western into a pleasing performance, very soon we will see more and more dance related themese that combine the best of the east and the west. It is great way to spread the message of peace and tolerance and this can be done by all to give a great meaning to peaceful living.
