Kasargod: Accused gets life term in rape of minor in Kumble

Kasargod, Dec 30: An accused involved in the rape of a minor has been awarded life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 by Kasargod additional sessions court.

The verdict was announced on Saturday, December 29 by judge P S Shivakumar. It is the first case where an accused has been subjected to life term in case coming under POCSO act.

Abdul Kareem (34) from Pachambala in Kumble station limits is the accused who had raped a 13-year-old girl in April 2018 by threatening her mother.

Later, the girl had lodged the complaint at Kumble station. The accused was arrested by inspector Prem Sadan.
