Mangalore: Ghastly Accident at Kallapu Kills Two on Spot

Mngalore, Dec 30: Two people died on the spot when a lorry transporting plywood to Mumbai rammed into a tree at Kallapu, near Thokkottu, on Tuesday December 30 at 4 am.

The Maharashtra-registered lorry (MH 11M 6342) was plying between Calicut and Mumbai.  The deceased are believed to be drivers including the additional driver of the lorry.  One of the drivers is identified as Umesh based on his signature at Talapady checkpost while the identity of the other driver is yet to be established.

Kallappu is known as accident-prone zone and it is believed that the driver might have dozed off in the morning hours resulting in the accident.  Ullal police inspector Lingappa and his team visited the spot immediately and the bodies were taken to the district hospital after the preliminary investigations.

    Kallapu has eye witnessed many ghasty accidents and many lives are lost, but still no measure has been taken to prevent. A very humble request to the concern atleast take some safety measures, so that in future we cannot have such accidents. Thanks Daiji for giving the spot news.
