Udupi: Fifth Kannada Sahitya Sammelan Inaugurated at Nitte

Udupi, Dec 31: The fifth Udupi district Kannada Sahitya Sammelan was inaugurated at Justice K S Hegde Vedike on Nitte Campus on Tuesday December 30.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, N Vinay Hegde, chancellor, Nitte Institutions, said that unity is possible only through the three languages like Kannada, English, and Hindi. Anyone can love Kannada, but its wrong to hate it, he said.
Jyoti Poojary inaugurated the procession held on the occasion. The president and chief guests were escorted in an open jeep.
Presiding over the function, Dr N Mogasale, president, Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, said that we should not think that liberalization and globalization are leading us to darkness, but instead it is the light of knowledge.
People did not think before destroying the forests. They did not even notice when the areca plants replaced the agricultural land for profit, he said. Now it is of no use discussing whether globalization is a boon or bane. Accept the challenge, said Dr Mogasale.
Ancient literature must be rejuvenated and used by all. The education given in the present is not education but an injustice to the students, said Dr Mogasale.
Ambatanaya Mudrady, president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Udupi district, hoisted the Sahitya Parishat flag while Captain Ganesh Karnik, member, Vidhan Parishat, hoisted state flag.
N Vinay Hegde, chancellor, Nitte Institutions, hoisted the national flag. Bharati Gopal Sarvergar staged a saxophone performance on the occasion.
Vikramarjuna Hegde, Arun Kumar S R, and Dr K Padmanabha Kukunnhaya, participated as honourary chief guests.
A message from Vyasaraya Nidiyoor, president, fourth Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, was also read on the occasion.
MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Harikrishna Punaroor, former president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Dakshina Kannada district, Ganant Ekkaru, Prof Padmanabha Gowda, K Ramananda Kamath, president, taluk unit, Heranje Krishna Bhat, financial committee, Aravind Hegde , convener, reception committee, and Sree Mudrady, were present on the occasion.
