Kundapur: Antiques Make a Comeback

Kundapur: Antiques Make a Comeback

Kundapur, Dec 31: In a mad rush to be called ‘modernized’, we often tend to forget the beauty and splendour that rare antiques possess.

Objects like old utensils made of copper, brass, and bronze, also add glamour to the atmosphere at home. They are more than old wine in a new bottle. They are not only a rarity but also not easily available like old coins, ornaments, and jewellery.

It is also interesting to note that the new fancy goods and articles are all inspired by age old articles of utility which are no longer in use such as ‘Kaludeepa’, ‘Chinnada Pettige’, ‘Thambrada Chembu’, dining table with chairs made of brass, and flower baskets.

These are all now finding a place in show cases. The trend is an increased demand for such old-fashioned pieces as also for earthen vessels. Some such items have been collected by Vinay Pais.
