Kaup, Feb 6: Goods worth lacs of rupees were gutted in the fire that occurred due to short-circuit in the Muloor branch of Corporation bank near here. This incident occurred on the midnight of Tuesday, February 5.
The said branch operates from the Panchami Complex besides the bus stand on Muloor national highway 66. The goods that gutted in the fire include computers and furntiure of the branch.
The locals who saw the fire in the building informed the same to the police immediately. Due to the alertness and presence of mind of the locals, a huge mishap was averted.
For some time the situation was tense at the spot of the incident. The fire service personnel, who arrived at the spot immediately, were able to bring the fire under control and prevent any further loss.
It is suspected that electrical short-circuit was the cause for the fire.
Kaup police are investigating further.
