Dubai, Feb 12: Dhwanirangasiri Utsav - 2019 was held at the Emirates International school here on the evening of Friday, February 8 in the presence of scores of UAE Kannadigas.
The programme started with a fantastically choreographed classical dance performance by Akshata Acharya and Ranjanikrishnaprasad.
The stage programme was inaugurated by Vipul, Consul General of India (CGI). The other guests on the dais were P Sheshadri, national award-winning director, C K Gundanna, Veteran actor of Kannada Theatre, Prof M Venkataramana, vice-chancellor, gulf medical university, Dhwanipuraskara awardee Gopika Mayya and sponsors of the event Gunasheela Shetty, Praveen Shetty and Harish Sherigar.
Dhwani Shriranga International Award was presented to C K Gundanna of ‘Samudaya’ for his outstanding work in all fields of theater since 45 years. Dhwanipuraskara Award was given to Dubai’s famous artiste Gopika Mayya.
P Sheshadri, Vipul and all the sponsors were felicitated during the ceremony.
Prakash Rao Payyar welcomed the gathering. Shwetha and Shana compered the stage programme. Latha hedge rendered the vote of thanks.
Renowned historical drama 'Mruchchakatika' was performed after the stage programme in front of the packed audience. The cast of the drama included Arathi Adiga as Vasantasene, Prabhakar Kamath as Shakara, Nagabhushankasyap as Maitreya, Vasu Bayar as Charudatta, Venkatesh as Kumbhilaka, which captivated the audience with their able and noticeable performances.
Other artistes who performed in the drama were Adesh Hasana, Ashok Anchan, Gururaj Puttur, Harish Poojari, Sapna Kiran, Janet Sequeira, Jayanth Shetty, Mohan B P, Narasimhan G S, Jesh Bayar, RameshLakya, Rudrayya Navalihiremutt and Saanvi Rakesh Sharma, Sandeep Devadiga, Sandya Ravikumar, Sapna Kiran, Shobitha Premjith, Shwetha Nadigsharma and Vinayaka Hegde.
Music was scored by Arun Carlo and Rajesh Adiga. Lighting was provided by Arun Manipal. The stage was designed by Ganesh Rai. Playback singers were Ramya Jagirdar, Sai Mallika and Uday Nanjappa. Backstage support was provided by Ritesh Anchan, Krishna Ail, Ashok Bailor, Sugandaraj Bekal, Anil Pujara and team.
The drama was directed by Prakash Rao Payyar.
