Mangalore: ATS Sleuths Camp in City - Muthalik Handed to Police Custody

Mangalore, Jan 31: Pramod Muthalik, the founder of Sri Rama Sena was handed over to police custody by the court on Friday January 30.
First class judge Vijaya of the second court of the judicial magistrate ordered that Muthalik be taken into police custody, following a request by the Bunder police. The police requested custody for five days, but the judge has permitted only one day. His bail application will be heard on Saturday January 31.
Meanwhile, the investigation of Muthalik with regard to the Malegaon blast case was confirmed with the arrival of two officials of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad to the city.
Vakhade, ATS inspector, and Sayyad, assistant inspector, are in the city. Both also attended the court hearings on Friday. They have denied to divulge any information regarding their arrival here.
As per reports in the media, Col Shrikanth Purohit, one of the accused in the Malegaon blast case, had mentioned the name of Muthalik during his interrogation on September 29, 2008.
Policemen from Madikeri were also in the city with a warrant, seeking to take Muthalik into custody. Their warrant was for a day and as it has elapsed they will now have to get a fresh warrant.
