Abu Dhabi, Feb 9: The Aloysian Alumni Committee Members based in Abu Dhabi hosted an informal get-together to felicitate Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ and Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, principal and vice-principal of St Aloysius College Mangalore respectively on their brief visit to Abu Dhabi on Saturday February 7.
During the gathering, Fr Denzil briefed regarding the current and future ambitious projects planned at St Aloysius College, Mangalore. The Mission of the College in educating for life, educating men and women for others, educating for leadership and forming men and women for others, which is the prime motto of Jesuits was explained with an audio visual presentation.
He also briefed about the new campus at Biri at Ullal, about 10 kms from Mangalore coming up at a cost of Rs 60 crore, which will be one of the prestigious and state-of-art projects with all modern amenities striving to become one of the most prestigious world class IT and Business Management institutions.
St Aloysius College has grown into leaps and bounds since its inception in 1880 and currently transforming itself into an autonomous institution. It is one of the oldest colleges in India. It imparts education without distinction of caste, creed, colour and language and gives special preference to socio-economically underprivileged groups.
Both the principal and vice-principal solicited the support of Alumni’s to achieve this dream, to produce competent, conscientious, compassionate and committed individuals to be the leaders of tomorrow, by inculcating Jesuit educational values of competence , excellence, conscientiousness, compassion and commitment for a cause with disciplined values to transform the society.
On this occasion Sydney D’Souza, chairperson for the Aloysian Alumni for the year 2009, presented mementos to the visiting priests on behalf of the Aloysian Alumni in the UAE Organizing Committee, as token of their gratitude to the institutions and for its outstanding service to the community.
The principal thanked the Aloysian Alumni Committee members for organizing the Reunion 2009, thereby renewing the bond of belonging with SAC.
