National security takes over jobs as key concern: Survey

New Delhi, Mar 11 (IANS): National security has taken over issues such as unemployment as one of the major concern areas for the people after the air strike on terror camps in Pakistan, according to the CVOTER-IANS opinion tracker.

Unemployment was the number one issue on the mood of the people tracker at the start of year with 29 per cent respondents calling it the prime concern. But as on March 7, the concern is reduced to 22 per cent. Reverse is true for national security which was seen as a non-issue in the first week of January with only 2.6 per cent listing it as a major issue.

The situation has totally changed after the Pulwama attack and the Balakot strike with 26 per cent now claiming it to be the primary issue.

"In today's India we have seen perhaps for the first time security issue competing and outdoing a bread-and-butter issue such as unemployment," said psephologist Yashwant Deshmukh, adding the current atmospherics go in favour of Prime Minister Modi.

Modi works hard to keep safe his own self-created image and not national security. Recent disaster happened during his time and not during Congress time. As good as saying we created a problem and only we can fix it.

If one observes the past "surveys" of Deshmukh, one observes unabashed praise for Narendra, and a consistent theme of pushing all of Narendra's opponents to the periphery.

Prior to the elections, it is common to find all these "surveys" in India. Most voters are intelligent enough to view these "surveys" as good old election gimmicks.

The reality of India right now is that people had enough of Narendra and his Gujarat Development projects.

Modi is making people vilnarable to join army and get themselves killed. As it is there is nothing to look forward to for better life and future for children under BJP. Modi wants people to defend country on empty stomachs without any kith or kin left behind hence save on pension and other benefits and pocket that money. Development according to BJP.

Security question has come to the forefront now because of the hype created by the Govt., ruling party and their mentor RSS. But as time passes, sooner even before the elections, voter will realise. Security in the country today is not any better than it was during the previous regimes. Indira Gandhi gave complete protection and security to this nation even sacrificing her life. If people remember that the present false propaganda would not hold any water.

They BJP were happy because they were confident that all other ‘surgical strikes’ carried out by the Modi government during the past five years will be erased from the public memory. The youth, farmers, workers, Dalits, minorities will forget what BJP did to them during all these years. Nationalism will paralyze brains of the masses and people will forget indiscriminate destruction of the judiciary, RBI, CBI, HAL, universities, and institutions of learning. If not permanently at least for the next two crucial months, all misdeeds and acts of misadventure of this government will be pushed to the backburner.

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) of funds to the extent that they cannot pay salary to their staff is the latest surgical strike. Let us not forget that this institute was built by Homi Jahangir Bhabha, the father of Indian Nuclear Programme.
Let the nation also not forget that ISRO and Atomic Energy Commission were incubated in TIFR, which still remains the most prestigious institute, both within the country and abroad. Let us also remind ourselves that it was built when India was counted among the poorest countries. British had left India in 1947, but not before squeezing the last drops of blood. We were a poor country but our desire to become a scientifically tempered nation and excel in science was robust. Therefore, the government and public both supported scientific research and institution building enthusiastically. The newly born pauperised India never let its scientific community feel that there were no funds for research and their salaries.
Today Modiji is never tired of reminding us that during his tenure India has remained the fasted growing economy, though independent economists tell us it is just one of the many lies that he has repeated ad nauseam. The truth is that TIFR is unable to pay salaries to its scientists, staff and research scholars. Which means that there is no money for research.

It is the reality of Modi's India.
