Mangaluru, Mar 18: Shakti PU College of the city held a symposium on ‘Vachana’ in their campus, organized jointly by All India Sharana Sahitya Parishad ®, Dakshina Kannada district Sahitya Parishad and Shakti literature and cultural association.
Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishad inaugurated the ‘Vatrmanakku Vachana’ symposium. He said, “Vachana literature is one of the important forms in the history of Kannada literature. It has played an important role in shaping the humane values and culture since the 12th century. “
Prabhakar G S, principal of Shakti PU College was the chief guest of the function. K C Naik, trustee of Sri Gopalkrishna Temple, presided over the stage programme. Naseem Banu welcomed the gathering. The programme was compered by Akshata M G.
Savitri Ramesh Bhat presented her thoughts on the subject ‘Vachanagalu Saaruva Saarvakalika Maulyagalu’. Dr Gururdas P, lecturer and famous devotional singer presented his thoughts on the subject ‘Samajika Krantige Munnudi Bareda Vachanagalu’. Sujay Shetty, former president of Mangaluru Taluk Chutuku Sahitya Parishad presided over the symposium. Nirmala Chandrashekhar welcomed the gathering and S A Biradara rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Jayalaxmi.
Vidya Kamath G, prinicipal of Shakti Residential school was the chief guest of the valedictory function. Baikady Janardhan Achar, honorary president of district Sharana Sahitya Parishad gave the valedictory speech. The programme was presided over by retired HOD of Hindi department of University college. Vindo F D’Souza welcomed the gathering. K G Patil rendered the vote of thanks. Shashikala M N compered the event. Inchara team of Urwa led by Ratnavati J Baikady presented the Vachana songs.
