Never said 'Those saying Modi's Army are traitors', says general VK Singh

New Delhi, Apr 5: Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Gen (retired) VK Singh, has strongly objected the BBC India report which mentioned him saying, 'Anybody who calls Indian Army Modi's army is a traitor'. The international media house reported Gen Singh having made the statement in response to the UP CM Yogi Adityanath's controversial remark, made at a rally on April 1, during a political campaign.

In the midst of controversy after the remark, the General has completely denied having made that statement and said that the reporter concerned has done a 'cut-paste job'.

He expressed his anguish through Twitter and said, "BBC Hindi reporter has done exactly the same thing I meant, when I had coined the word Presstitute. I have a record of whatever I have said. I guess the reporter was sleeping or he intentionally did a cut and paste job. Well done and how much money did you receive."

The BBC India in turn released the full video of the interview to bolster its claim. General VK Singh's cabinet colleague Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was also caught on camera referring to the army as 'Modiji ki sena'. When approached for comments over the controversy, the Gen said that the army does not belong to an individual, it belongs to the nation.
