Bengaluru, April 5: Over a week after 'blast incident' at a film-shoot that claimed the life of a mother-daughter spectator, Bengaluru city police have arrested the film producer of upcoming film 'Ranam' over the fatal mishap.

The jurisdictional police at Bagalur on Friday have arrested Kanakapura Srinivas in connection with the death and have produced him before the magistrate. The court has duly remanded Srinivas to judicial custody.

Earlier this week the BCP had already booked a case of negligence against the stunt coordinator of the film, Subhash K. According to the probing team, the stunt-master had not ensured safety parameters before setting-off the blast. "The nitrogen gas cylinder was not set properly between the colliding cars. So, when the blast was triggered, it caused cylinder to shoot up in the air and chunks from the blast flew randomly, some of which hit the victims wounding them fatally," the officials said.

While the mother Sumera and her eight year old daughter Aeyra were killed in the blast, the father and another child were injured and are admitted to Ambedkar Hospital in Bengaluru.

MN Reddi, DG of Fire Services said that the film's crew had not obtained any prior permission to shoot the blast sequence.

Police are on a lookout for director V Samudra, who is in Andhra Pradesh.

Kanakpura Srinivas and Subhash K have been booked under sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.

Ranam the upcoming Sandalwood flick features Chethan Ahimsa and Chiranjeevi Sarja.
