Mangalore: Removal of Milad-un-Nabi Hoarding Irks Kudroli Residents

Mangalore, Mar. 10: Removal of a Milad-un-Nabi banner by the City Corporation, irked the residents of Kudroli near here on Tuesday March 10
 
The community members had set up a hoarding welcoming the devotees to the Milad-un-Nabi function at Jodupalli. However, the City Corporation staff removed the hoarding with a view that electoral code of conduct.

As soon as the news that the hoarding of a particular community had been removed, people thronged to Kudroli. This led to tense moments for a short while at Kudroli. The residents were also irked that the City Corporation staff also damaged three tube lights that were on the spot.












Kudroli corporator Aziz Kudroli later said that the City Corporation staff were wrong in removing the hoarding since it was put up to welcome devotees. "The hoarding did not belong to any political party. Hence there was no question of violating election code of conduct," he added.

People of Kudroli who resented this action by MCC said that the party that is ruling the City Corporation is to be blamed for the blunder.
 
DYSP Dharmayya and Mangalore north police inspector Umesh Shet visited the spot. The latter took the situation immediately to control and reinstalled the hoarding on its previous place.
 
When contacted, City Corporation staff said that hoarding was removed as per the order issued by the deputy commissioner.

Kudroli limped back to normalcy after few a minutes. Nevertheless District Armed Reserve Police have been deployed on the spot.

    Please don’t communalize this issue, we should give the benefit of the doubt, either MCC staff’s or deputy commissioner was ignorant about the code of conduct.

    Really we dont have any hopes in Law of India, only thing is we Minorities in India are not safe......... we should think of our own ways to get out from these problems

    MCC Staff's action was laughable. Mangalore City doesn't belong to particular community or religion people.We can openly see Bhagvath Flags flying all over Mangalore City on tree tops,auto stands,Bus Stands,City Circles,Signal Light Post,Electric Poles etcetc.Then why MCC is objecting Minority Community Hoardings? Let our Mangalore city be colour full with Kesari, bili and Hasuru.
