Mangalore, Mar 20: Members of the Sri Rama Sena protested against the ban on its leader Pramod Muthalik and demanded that the state government revoke it in eight days.
Addressing the protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s office on Friday March 20, Prasad Attavar, state convener of the Sena said, “It is a political conspiracy to curb the activities of the Sena which is protecting Hindutva and Indian culture. As part of this conspiracy, the state government used the law and district administration to pass such an order”.
He added that unless the state government revokes the ban in eight days, the organization would hold statewide protests.
Sena activists also took out a rally from Arya Samaj road to the deputy commissioner’s office.
The district magistrate assistant commissioner’s court on Monday March 16, had issued a ban on Pramod Muthalik’s entry into Dakshina Kannada district till March 16, 2010. The order followed hearings in the same court.
The attack on women at the pub, which was condemned nationwide, and the inflammatory speech by Muthalik were the reasons behind the order.
