Mangalore, Mar 25: “The religion was established for the purpose of enabling people belonging to all sections of the society to have a cordial and harmonious co-existence. Religion was necessary to restrain people who were greedy and selfish,” analyzed Subrahmanya Math Swamiji Sri Vidyaprasanna Teertha.

He was speaking after inaugurating the religious meeting organized as part of the Ashtapavitra Nagamandalotsava and annual festival rituals of Sri Guru Vaidyanath Sridevi Chamundeshwari Daivastana at Bejai Kapikad in the city on Tuesday March 24.

"As long as the human being reposes faith in the existence of the Almighty, he continues to follow the religious tenets and implement the beliefs embedded therein. Religious programmes, renovation of temples and Nagabanas etc., work to reinforce such beliefs and faiths," he explained.

In his benedictory address, Odiyoor Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji said, it is absolutely possible for any one to appease the Lord and get closer to Him, only when the devotees are able to shake off the eight vices which try to get hold on them and misguide their actions. A person who gets rid of these negative factors is able to love every being unequivocally, he explained.

Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple managing trustee Krishnaprasad Adyantaya presided. Coastal Development Authority chairman B Nagaraj Shetty, MLA B Ramanath Rai, ex-minister K Amarnath Shetty, Kacchur Maldi temple president J Eshwar, Bangalore MRG Group managing director K Prakash Shetty, MAHE Unviersity retired vice chancellor Dr B M Hegde, Corporation Bank general manager B R Bhat, Mijarguthu Anand Alva and Karunakar participated as chief guests.

Vittaladas Tantry delivered religious discourse.

Nagamandalotsav Committee honorary president A J Shetty welcomed.  President M Shashidhar Hegde delivered introductory speech. Advisor Manjunath Bhandary Shedde, Gurkar H Raju etc., were present.

This is the wonderful message to all people, particulary a few Swamijis, like Pejavrashri, sitting in the temple of God and wherever they go talk not about politics and not the good thoughts on religion and good life.

Swamiji Sri Vidyaprasanna Teertha is a real scholar, philosopher. I can imagine the depth of his knowledge from his talks. His talks is purely religious and has no political side to it. We need more from Swamiji. I would love to attend the samajotsavs where swamijis like Swamiji Sri Vidyaprasanna Teertha are on the platform.

Dear Abishek, we do not have problem on hindu samajotsav, even if they gather yearly, monthly or even daily basis, the probelm here is only it happens during election time, and presided by communal leaders and their speeches encouraging innocent hindus to throw stones at masjid. church etc.

Why Mr.Abhishek is always harping on Samajotsava, Samajotsava? .Nobody, including the minorities are not against for holding any Utsavas . It’s an open secret that, so called Hindu Samajotsava was actually a BJP pracharotsava /Alpa Sankyatharige Bhayotsava .According to me Navratri , Nagamandala, Car festival, Ganeshotsava ,Nemotsavas etc which unite people are the real “Samajotsavas”.

Mr. Abhishek, all religions are here to teach tolerance & peace among co-human being & not to create a platform at a maidan during election time by money power & hired devotees to attack other religion for vote bank. We oppose such practice & not the very ancient Hindu religion of our country.

We Indians admire the tolerance & accommodating nature of this great religion & the living example is the Jews, Syrian Christians & Mapla Muslims of Kerala and the Parsis of Gujarat who were given shelter by the local Hindu kings to living like & help develop the region along with them.

Dear Maria, thank you for your sincere comments. From the ratio of total comments made on this site to those that are negative or communal, from the respective religions, I do tend to say some Hindus are bad although less than 20%. By the same yardstick, i.e. from the ratio of total to communal comments, it is also fair to say 80% of the other religions are bad and 20% are good and Maria surely falls under the 20%.

Beautiful coverage, divine touch, felt like we missed the programme, really religion is not created by God, but from men, Main theme of each religion is to love one another, Still 80% of hindus are very good people. only 20% are creating problems.

So, please do not blame each other only for religion instead try to understand each other & live like friends how we were before, sharing everything and living happily.

Not only religions but all organizations including political parties are founded with good motives. As Swami Vivenkananda said there is no sin in this world. Good and bad are in the beholders eyes.

To all those criticising samajotsava..Both the swamiji's were present at the Samajotsava. Understand the true meaning of it. When people can gather on sundays & fridays what's the problem if Hindus gather few times a year??

Absolutely True... Religion is to bring man closer to God... which means away from all that in not good and all that does not reflect Godliness... The trouble is when Politics gets in to religion and religion gets into politics. A SUPREME CONSTITUTIONAL LAW SHOULD BE ENACTED ISOLATING RELIGION AND POLITICS and only that can serve the religion and politics alike.
