Mumbai, Mar 26: Governor S C Jamir on Wednesday March 25, called for concerted efforts to promote rain water harvesting and recycling of used water in view of the scarcity of water prevailing in different parts of the country. Getting safe and potable drinking water is the right of every human being. Therefore, non-governmental organizations should join hands with the government in making drinking water available to all the people, he said.
The Governor was speaking after presenting 48 water purifiers to Kripa Foundation founder Fr Joe Pereira, on the occasion of World Water Day.
The programme was organized by Eureka Forbes Limited and Rotary Club of Mumbai, at the Victoria Memorial School for the Blind here on Wednesday March 25.
Kripa Foundation is the largest NGO in India working for the rehabilitation of drug and alcoholic addicts and AIDS victims in 11 states across the country including Maharastra and Nagaland. The water purifiers donated by Eureka Forbes will be installed in every centre of Kripa Foundation.
